Feb 2, 2010 - Out of Africa
We have now recrossed the equator and have joined our friends Suzy and Duncan Walker in Dubai. After his response of “Oh, it could take you now if it wanted, but it probably won’t because the only way it could kill you is by drowning you and it’s a fair distance to drag you back to the water”, Jaku wasn’t the only one in the truck! On Monday we said goodbye to Hoedspruit and headed off to Jo’burg for our flight to dubai. ... Given the lateness of our flight, we went the “Panoramic Route”, visiting the Blyde River canyon (the third largest canyon in the world, and the only one not in desert), Burke’s Luck Potholes, God’s Window and the Berlin Falls. We have now recrossed the equator and have joined our friends Suzy and Duncan Walker in Dubai. Feb 1, 2010 - The Next Chapter: Port Elizabeth & Safari Adventures
Sunday 24th January A quiet day of just exploring the front at Port Elizabeth. We had decided not to go sandboarding, as it was pretty expensive, but as we stood on top of these dunes you could see the attraction – if we had had a tin tray (or been able to remove the car’s bonnet), we would have been off! We also started the malaria tablets today – we head up north tomorrow and into Hoedspruit, near the Kruger, for a few days of safari. ... Thankfully, they are clearly visible form Hoedspruit, so I still get my daily “fix”. ... James’ house is in a game reserve (but no lions), and stands alone in the bush – this was brought home on the drive to the house where we passed vervet monkeys, impala and waterbuck and on arrival when we startled two warthogs which had been grazing just outside our bedroom window.Sunday 24th January A quiet day of just exploring the front at Port Elizabeth.
