Today was a day to forget. As I really had no intention to walk by foot with all my baggage over there, not knowing if and when the strike ends and having in mind that I need to get back to Lima in two weeks, I decided to go back to Puno and from there to Lima, to do some travelling out from there until going home. ... here the clocks are going slower ;-) So I got back to Puno, knowing that I dont want to stay there not one day more, so hopped into a bus driving me in a 24 hour ride back to Lima. ...

As there was nothing more to do in Cuzco I took the chance to get to the peruvian jungle by staying four days in a lodge close to Puerto Maldonado. ... Puerto Maldonado is nothing special, typical jungle city, everbody here seems to like riding his motorbike - whereas they are usually occupied by 2+ people ;-) You can go there from Cuzco with bus in some days, depending on the road state, especially suring rain season, that is now. ... Today I went to the only trip available due to the close down of Macchu Picchu - a day trip through the Sacred Valley. It is located to the north of Cuzco, and faous river Rio Urubamba runs trough it. ... After a short pit stop in Urubamba, that gave the river its name, we arrived to Ollantaytambo, another impressive fortress. ... Feb 16, 2010 - Hiking at Colca Canyon
Uff. Arrived then to Cabanaconde, where we started to descend into the canyon, down 1200 meters for some five hours. ... Next day we went on four hours to the place called Oasis - if you see the pictures you know why its called that way ;-) Well, I think everybody arriving there has deserved relax himself at one of the pools ;-) Last day I was most worried - we went up at 5am, climbing uo the canyon to Cabanaconde for 1000 meters in three hours. ...
