Sep 4, 2010 - NZ - Queenstown
What a choc full week in Queenstown! And best of all spending some time with Damian and Dale :) Hot Chocolated out!! Sad to say but I have little words today to express everything that I got up to! I am tired and not well adjusted to travel! Better get used to it hey! I did the Luge with Dale both of us discovering we were not fans of chair lifts around the same time! Paraponting was fantastic but came with another chair lift ride. ... then there was Milford Sounds and Skippers Canyon and they are my three top picks if you are looking to do the best you can do in Queenstown. ...

Aug 10, 2010 - Drenched In Kaikoura
I managed the 6. We had a banana for breakfast on the coast and I really wish I hadn't, because I literally felt like I was going to "chunder everywheeeere" the whole drive to Kaikoura. ... The road finally straightened out and I fell asleep for a bit and then we reached Kaikoura. ... The weather was horrific and it'd been raining all day, so the whale watching and all the swimming with the dolphins and stuff was cancelled.I managed the 6. Aug 7, 2010 - Rugby Haka At Christchurch
It was going to be a long day on the road to Christchurch, and I finally said goodbye to Base in Queenstown, which probably ended up being a second home to me as I'd stayed there for so long, at 8. ... On the way to Christchurch we also watched Public Enemies with Johnny Depp and then Happy Gilmore. ... We made it to Christchurch, checked into Base and I bought 4 tickets for the All Blacks Vs Australia game on Saturday which included the bus there and back and 2 free drinks in Base bar. ... The next day we walked through town to the Christchurch Art Gallery and left shortly afterwards for the Canterbury Museum where they had a lot about the Moa bird, they had an Egyptian mummy and they had this replica of a house that belonged to this old couple who completed decorated the place with Paua shell that the husband used to collect and shine up, it turned into a big tourist attraction. ... We went down to the bar for our two free drinks and my friend Rachel who I met on my Southern Thailand Soujourn trip in May, came out and joined us to say hello, because she's now living and working in Christchurch and it was really good to see her. ...

Aug 3, 2010 - Bay of Islands and Cape Reinga
I travelled up to Paihia yesterday and spent the afternoon watching videos as the weather was awful. Today however we went on a coach trip up to Cape Reinga and 90 mile beach (which is actually only 50 miles long!) The coach drove along the beach and up a stream where we could all go sandboarding on body boards down the dunes. ... We also go to see the point where the Tasman Sea and Pacific Ocean meet as well as a sign post to London! Most of the day, however, was spent sitting on the coach and looking at the rain! Aug 3, 2010 - Back To Queenstown
The next day Jodie who we'd met in Australia was to arrive in Queenstown! She'd done a bungy jump on the stop in and was very excited to tell Harriette and me about it and show us her DVD on the PC. ... I don't think I could ever do one, so it was really great of her to get over her fear and just jump! So of course we took Jodie to Ferg Burger - I had one called Little Lamby, with lamb and minted sauce and whatnot. The next day Jodie who we'd met in Australia was to arrive in Queenstown! Jul 31, 2010 - Free Bar Tab In Invercargill
After we departed Dunedin we headed to Kaka Point where the pub there puts on a special Bottom Bus deal where you can have anything you like off the menu in a toasted sandwich for $6. Pretty cool! We finally, finally made it to Invercargill around 7pm and checked into Tautara lodge with a pub right next to it. ... Then the Southland Invercargill rugby team came into the pub to watch the match and the coach came around the tables with a pink jug asking everyone if they wanted to put $2 in for a sweepstake on the match. ... I told him I didn't have a spare $2 and probably wouldn't stay until the match of the end anyway - so he said to put ourselves on their team bar tab so we could stay until the end - Poms charm works a treat!
