What a delightful weekend! Six of us (Jamie, Brett, Kate, Kayla, Melanie, and myself) headed to Florence for the weekend at 1:48 on Friday afternoon after our Italian final. ... *cough*nakamoto*cough*) We got into sunny Florence around 5pm and headed to our hostel Archi Rossi. ... A ton of Americans study abroad in Florence and the surrounding areas so we heard a great deal of English throughout the weekend. ... Oh well! So, Saturday morning we all woke up, ate our delicious free breakfast, and headed out for the day! The others had never been to Florence before so they were spent their weekend doing the typical things that every tourist visiting Florence should do. ... The train ride to Rome was gorgeous. ... Thankfully, we figured out a way to get to Rome, it was just a little out of the way and unplanned. ... What in the world? We thought it would be warmed than Scotland and Ireland? After grabbing pizza for lunch we took the train to Venice. ... Due to the holiday, everything in and around Venice was packed so we were all split up in various hotels and hostels in the area. ... Our train to Venice was beautiful because the sun was actually shining compared to either snow or rain! When we got to Venice, it was packed! People were everywhere, all around the streets, getting their faces painted and wearing costumes, celebrating Carnevale. ... And we were off to Rome! We ended up having to take different trains, had a long layover in a town called Ventimiglia, and then taking a night train from Genova to Rome. ... We finally got into our reserved seats and with the door not locking we made a lock with Meredith’s bike lock!
