Before I will continue to give a depiction of our stay in Wuhan, just one little culinary experience we made in Yichang waiting on the bus to Wuhan to depart. ... Being a transfer city for us, we did not do much in Wuhan except for staying in the hostel for one night in order to catch an express train on the following day which would bring us to Shanghai within phenomenal 6 hours time (the slower connections take up to 13 hours). ... Unfortunately, not knowing if would be able to go to Wuhan on the same day as we had arrived in Yichang, we had not booked a room in Wuhan, which was why we had to content ourselves with two dorm beds. ... We arrived in Wuhan in late afternoon and discovered that this is a bit more like 'real' China. ... This meant that there was a great view of the Yangtze river and Wuhan city from the top. ... The perceptive amongst you will notice that Wuhan is on the Yangtze so why go to Yichang? The part of the river from Wuhan to Yichang is so winding that it would take 28 hours to sail this or we can go by bus for 4. ...

Wuhan is a city made up of three former large towns, namely Wuchang, Hankou and Hanyang, and the Lonely Planet guidebook gives Wuhan quite a good write up actually. ...
