May 14, 2010 - Yangshuo - The week's review!

Hello!!! Well his week in yangshuo has been brilliant!!! Full of activities and a lot of variety. From caves, to climbing Moon Hill, to bamboo rafting on the Li River, to a Theatre visit, cycling and swimming in the river it has been quite an eventful week!! I wont bore you with all the details but instead will upload as many photos i can in this hour i have in the internet cafe!!! Yangshuo is a really nice place. ... Despite being touristy is has a lot of cultural activities and a wide variety of things to keep you occupied.Hello!!! Well his week in yangshuo has been brilliant!!! Hi all!!! Just a quick update. We have now moved to a town called Yangshuo. ... Met some more volunteers, of the same company as the one we are with, who are teaching here in Yangshuo. ... We spend our evenings and weekends togther and they are a really nice group! It's a nice change from being in the very remote countryside and now staying in a lively town.Hi all!!! Zo, nu een berichtje uit het supermooie Yangshuo! Donderdag 14 jan. ... Laatste stukje naar Yangshuo (vanwege de lage waterstand) doen we per lokale bus. ... En: De douche hangt wederom boven de (Chineese, dus gat in de grond) wc, maar daar zijn we ondertussen wel aan gewend ;-) Yangshuo is een toeristische stad met vele restaurants en bars, het heeft een kleine gezellige binnenstad en er zijn veel backpackers. ...

We finished our boat cruise in Lichang where we spent the night before boarding an overnight train the next day headed to Liuzhou before a bus trip to the picturesque town of Yangshuo. ... The train trip was forgotten as soon as we arrived in Yangshuo - what a beautiful area. ... The first day in Yangshuo was the most tiring and hot i've had in China. ... From this point, the map suggested that it was a 1 or 2 hour walk back to Yangshuo so we set off and turned down a Y40 offer of a lift back [i think i would have just paid]. ... In the end Yangshuo was miles away and it was, again, fortunate that as darkness fell a taxi heading back to Yangshuo stopped and asked for Y5 each to take us back. ... So in the end i opted against the rice terraces and spent another night in Yangshuo. ...
