Emma and Colette, love birds

Work this week was quite as it was half-term. Still a lot of paper shuffling was accomplished. There are lots of non exercise prescriptive interventions for me to learn- a vibrating chest vest to assist a cough, lyrica suits to alter muscle tone and orthotic clinic.

Saturday began with a walk along the river into town where buskers entertained the crowd. I still am amazed at the talent over here. There is always a sound to be heard; be it a loud strange accent, a man with a mic or the honk of horns. The streets are always filled with passer-bys scuffling frantically on the cobbles. Fresh crêpes are in abundance to entice your nose. Car fumes and cigarette are even more prolific which make you hold your nose and breath. There are countless shops to lure my eyes. A blanket of grey seems to cover the cities.

The weekend was meet with much anticipation. The forecast had a sun attached. My car was full and the sat nav was programmed in with Brighton as the destination. Two students from my hostel and I ventured out on what was overcast day. Almost as soon as we arrived in beachy Brighton I felt a strange movement of the car. It was confirmed as I pulled over that the tyre had a puncher. Fortunately the rental company had free AA which put the space saver wheel on within the hour. However since it was a Sunday I had to wait a day to get the wheel fixed. Hence a slow return home. My lunch hour today was spent getting it fixed. Lucky only a patch required and not a new tyre as it was a nail that was the culprit. The call-out man was made VERY aware that this could have happened to anyone, not just a lady would he called trouble! Anyway I am sorry to sidetrack from the Brighton sites. Brighton like most sea-side places embraces a laidback style with quaint houses, even by English standards. Brighton Pier really should be renamed Brighton circus as it is extremely commercial- packed with candy floss, bumper cars, taro reading and more. The neon lights reminded me more of Vegas than Takapuna. Sadly the amusement stools outnumbered the grains of sand.

After much deliberation I have accepted the Cardiff position with live-in accommodation, a large holistic team (including reflexologist) ability to learn about splinting and run orthotic clinics it was too hard turn down. It will be interesting to see how the service differs, since it is a residential school dedicated to physical disabilities. The contract will run for a 3 month period so will be nice to be settled. Although the job it is meet with some hesitation as the clinical leader described the team as nutters- maybe I will be the perfect fit! My gosh, just look at where I will be staying, certainly like nothing I have ever experienced before. www.cardiff.gov.uk/objview.asp?object_id=11710, this shows you about the village.

Before I sign off I must sing my praises to Skype who has enabled me to remain in touch and sane.
